Feedback from the WRC has found its way into every crevice of the Lancer Evolution IX all-wheel control system (AWC). As a result, it holds the line under higher cornering speeds while maximising traction. Whatever surface you are on, the left side of your brain understands yaw, the right side feels awe. In tarmac mode, the system focuses on straight-line stability required on dry surfaces. In gravel mode, it provides less turning assist for cornering characteristics appropriate in drift cornering. In snow mode, the system compensates for the greater intensity of driver input.

Versus previous systems, Super Active Yaw Control (Super AYC) reduces understeer and increases cornering speeds by up to ten percent. In combination with the Active Centre Differential (ACD), it induces longer yaw moments and transfers torque to the rear wheel with the most traction. Meanwhile, the front tyres grip like hungry rottweilers.
